Our Sustainable development -program takes note of the use of materials, energy, and water as well as the sorting and recycling waste. On top of this it discusses the themes of social and cultural sustainability. Safety, wellbeing, prevention of bullying and social exclusion, nutrition, and health, as well as cultural inheritance and multiculturalism are included in our program of Sustainable development.
12.2.2020 The OKKA Foundation confirmed that the indicators of a sustainable future of vocational institutes would be taken into use in the certification of sustainable development in educational institutes. The certification is based on the self-evaluation process, verifying the basic level of sustainable development, and the commitment to execute the plan for sustainable development.
The program of sustainable development is divided into five goals:
- HAMI will be the healthiest upper secondary educational community of Finland in 2030.
- Sustainable development is rooted in all of our educational activity.
- Our on-the-job-learning activity encourages the development of cooperation with working life.
- HAMI and HAMK together work towards carbon neutrality
- We work together with our partners.

Sustainable development is a theme we would like to improve everyone’s knowledge on. For the organization to reach its sustainability goal, it’s important that the staff has adequate skills and prerequisites to act upon the principles of sustainable development, and further its goals.
