Pathway studies to the university of applied sciences are a great option for upper secondary students to continue their studies at a higher level.
What and why?
During their upper secondary studies, the student will complete 30 credit points of UAS-studies as part of their upper secondary studies. A student that has completed both their upper secondary qualification as well as 30 cp. of UAS-studies can apply for a right to study for a qualification in the UAS without having to participate in HAMK entrance exam.
HAMK studies are accepted as part of the upper secondary qualification in accordance with the student’s syllabus. This means they will accumulate the competence point score also on the upper secondary level. The student will receive a certificate, with which they can apply for credit transfer in other higher education institutions.
Applying
The upper secondary school will make a proposition on potential pathway students to HAMK in May and November. A meeting will be arranged between the students and the educational managers and/or guidance counselors of both schools. After this, a study agreement will be made.
Study right
The applicant will get study rights after they have been granted and have accepted a study place and have registered in for the semester. Their study right begins with their first registered semester. This is why it is recommended to apply for studies the same semester you intend to start your studies.
Study agreement
The studies and their timing will be planned together with the student’s guidance counselor and HAMK contact. A written study agreement determining the studies to complete and their timing will always be made. A limited number of applicants will be admitted in.
Admission
A student can apply for a qualification right when the pre-determined 30 cp of HAMK studies and upper secondary qualification are completed. The study modules for HAMK must be completed with mainly good grades.
