At our Lepaa campus we train gardeners of horticultural production and landscaping. You can also study golf course management, beekeeping (apiculture) or production of alcoholic beverages. Situated some 17 km from Hämeenlinna, the verdant study environment of Lepaa includes greenhouses, an apple orchard, open field plantations and an arboretum of its own. Lepaa also has a vineyard and a 9-hole golf course.
The application periods to our trainings and qualifications are updated on our web page. Our initial vocational qualification is applicable through the joint application system.
Initial vocational qualification
Our initial vocational qualifications are designed for those who don’t yet have training or experience in the field. You can apply for initial vocational qualifications through the joint application system.
At HAMI you can study two different initial vocational qualifications of horticulture:
Horticultural production
This training is for those interested in growing vegetables, fruits, berries, or ornamental plants either in a greenhouse or in an open field plantation. After your studies you will be able to work, for example, at greenhouse plantations, plant nurseries, open field vegetable, berry and fruit plantations, gardening shops or as an independent entrepreneur.
Landscaping
In our landscaping training you will learn to do yard construction and landscaping in greenspaces, sports areas, and playgrounds. In this line of work you also take care of vegetation and yards. After your studies you can work, for example, for the city or parish landscaping services, a private-owned landscaping business or a golf course.
Further vocational qualification in golf course maintenance
This qualification is mainly designed for those already working in the field and wanting to gain more professional skills. At HAMI you can complete a further vocational qualification in golf course maintenance. The training suits anyone interested golf course maintenance, as well as those wishing to complete their prior professional experience with a further vocational qualification.
Specialist vocational qualifications
These qualifications give you in-depth, diverse professional skills. The scope of specialist vocational qualifications is 180 competence points. The specialist vocational qualifications at Lepaa are designed for the work of golf course managers. The options are:

This is for you if you work as a golf course keeper, an assisting golf course manager or a golf course manager – or if you have completed the further vocational qualification in golf course maintenance.
